Rock tumbling Tigers Eye start to finish

In this video I take around a kilo of Tigers Eye rough rocks and over a period of 5 weeks or so they will be transformed in to something really special and tactile. I used the Beach 5lb tumbler to start off the process so I could get it all in at once. These are a bit softer than say an agate and were quicker to tumbler as a result. I did an experiment in the video at the polishing stage. I wanted to see which offered the best polishing results, the rotary tumbler or the vibratory tumbler. The vibratory tumbler was filled with pre conditioned ceramic pieces and the polish used was cerium oxide. The rotary tumbler was filled with plastic beads and the polish used was cerium oxide. For the polishing process in the rotary tumbler I used a Crown rubber 3lb barrel. I let them both run for the same amount of time, watch the video for the results. I am very pleased with the results of the stones and they make a wonderful clacking sound in the hand like a fist full of marbles, they are super tactile and very shimmery.
