Texas just shifted the conversation on hemp. Governor Greg Abbott bypassed the legislature after three failed attempts to ban hemp-derived THC, instead using his executive authority to roll out new rules that change how the industry operates. Executive Order 56 doesn’t shut down the market — it sets up a framework that regulates hemp products much like alcohol or tobacco, with new rules on age limits, labeling, THC content, and enforcement. The TDR Cannabis in Five, presented by Dutchie with host Shadd Dales, breaks down what’s in the order and what it means going forward. We’ll cover why sales will now be restricted to adults 21 and over, why THCa flower and synthetic THC are being banned, and how new testing and labeling requirements will raise the cost of doing business. Larger operators may see stability, while small smoke shops and THCa vendors face a much tougher road. We’ll also look at the rulemaking process that follows. Draft regulations will be published, the public will have a chance to weigh in, and enforcement will ramp up once the rules are finalized. For consumers, it means age checks, more detailed product information, and fewer choices on the shelf. For businesses, it means higher compliance costs and closer scrutiny. The big picture: Abbott didn’t ban hemp, but he put it under a stricter spotlight. For Texas, this could bring stability to a fast-growing industry — or spark new fights over how hemp fits into the state’s cannabis landscape. #CannabisNews #TexasCannabis #HempTHC #GregAbbott #CannabisPolicy #CannabisInvesting #TDRPodcast #CannabisIndustry #THCProducts #TexasNews Want to see more Cannabis Reform videos? • Rescheduling Cannabis Is Only the Beginnin... • Pam Bondi, RFK Jr. & DOJ Moves — What It M...
