Presentation mentioning the possible track extension: • David Buczkowski In this video we take a look at a couple locations on the abandoned roadbed of the Wiscasset, Waterville, & Farmington Railway along a section that might be restored in the future. First we start out at the new end of active track that was recently restored to Trout Brook and Route 218 in Alna, ME. The new station site, turntable, and end of track is shown before we then head north a short distance up the right of way on a nature trail. Unfortunately it was pretty overgrown so I didn’t venture far up. We then jump ahead to the Head Tide church area that is pretty common in original WWF railway photos. As you can see the ROW is overgrown at both locations but there’s talk about the future possibilities of it having a better future. Of course at this time it isn’t a current project or in an official plan but as the WWF president said in the linked presentation, there is a lot of talk about it. While there is a lot of talk, the WWF team has planned ahead for the possibility of expansion as the turntable at Trout Brook has been set up in a way that it could be moved in the future. This project is likely a few years away so in the meantime check out what else WWF has to offer on their website and social media pages. Their facebook has constant updates on their day to day activities so be sure to give that a visit.
