The segment between Fish Creek Vista and Tortilla Flat is dirt, narrow, and cliffside; high-clearance/4×4 recommended when conditions are rough. Originally carved in the early 1900s to build Roosevelt Dam, the Apache Trail later became one of Arizona’s classic scenic drives.
