"Drumming Song" by the Bulmershe Ensemble (Music for Youth 2015 Winners)

Drumming Song (arr. by Miss S. Lant) performed by the Bulmershe Ensemble as part of their four piece item for the Music for Youth National Festival Competition hosted in Birmingham, July 2015. The solo was sung by year 12 student, Jacqueline. The Bulmershe Ensemble is a secondary school choir based in Reading. Founded only a year and a half ago, the Ensemble was designed to encourage young people to become inspired and passionate about music and music performance. Influenced by a gospel/soul style of choral performance, the particular strengths of our choir is the "delicious" harmonic blend of male and female voices, our "gorgeous" accompanying section consisting of students' Warren, Emma and Tom (Piano, Drums and Bass Guitar) and our infectious enthusiasm! Despite competing for the first time against experienced county choirs, the judges were impressed with our professionalism and contagious energy, not to mention our glorious sound! We are pleased to inform that following our performance at the Birmingham Town Hall, we were awarded one of the three prizes for "Best Performance Practice" during the 2015 Music for Youth National Competition. A big congratulations and thank you for all the students and staff who have been so dedicated in constructing such a fantastic music experience!
