Baba Bhootnath Dham is considered as a holy site where all wishes come true and therefore, its also known as Kaamna Poorti Mahadev. The Bhootnath form of Lord Shiva is being worshipped here, which is the pre-Nataraja form of God. Nothing much is known about its origin but all people speak about the 300 years old tradition of worshipping Lord Shiva with the ashes of a burnt body from the cremation ground beside. The silver barricade around the garbhagriha or where the Shiva idol is placed is quite attractive. In case you have a special day ahead, you can request for blessings from the akhand jyoti room. Apart from the famous bhasmarti ritual, the daily evening sringar or ornating the Lord with flowers is indeed a sight to behold. Being on the banks of Hooghly, the place is absolutely stunning at evening time with long prayers and conch shells against the river backdrop.
