Aamra Prabashi is a non-profit, socio-cultural organization formed in 2002 with an objective to preserve the rich cultural heritage of Bengal along with serving the greater cause of the humanity and make the society a better place to live in. Aamra Prabashi has come of age in terms of participation, growth and recognition. Even though it has become more cosmopolitan over the years, we keep the Bengali culture and traditions alive. Aamra Prabashi is the front runner in preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Bengal in the greater Mumbai area. ------------------------------------------------------------- “এখন আমি তোমার ঘরে বসে’ করব শুধু পড়া- পড়া খেলা।” সত্যিই বেশ হতো যদি খেলতে খেলতে লেখা পড়াটি করা যেত! ভাবছেন তো খেলতে খেলতে পড়া?! একি পাগলামো!! পড়াশনাটা খেলার ছলে করলেই তখন সেটা আর নীরস কঠিন বিষয় থাকে না; সেখান থেকেই পাওয়া যায় মজা। তার জন্যে আসতে হবে প্রকৃতির মাঝে। যে শিক্ষা লাভের আশায় মুখ গুঁজে পড়ে থাকতে হয় বই এর পাতায়, সেই শিক্ষাই কত সহজে বোধগম্য হয় এই প্রকৃতির সান্নিধ্যে এসে। আর সে শিক্ষা হয় হাতে কলমে শিক্ষা। তাই এর মধ্যেই লুকিয়ে আছে মজা আর বিষ্ময় ! কবিগুরু এই সত্যের উপলব্ধি করেছেন তাঁর সারা জীবন ধরে এবং তাকে প্রতিষ্ঠিত করেছেন তাঁর সৃজনশীলতার মধ্যে দিয়ে। কবির এই চিন্তাকে (concept) আজও আমরা ততটাই প্রাসঙ্গিক ও গুরুত্বপূর্ন মনে করি কচি ছেলেমেয়েদের পরিপূর্ন (শারীরিক এ মানসিক) বিকাশের জন্যে। এই ভাবনা থেকেই আমাদের প্রয়াস ছিলো মুম্বাইয়ের কচিকাঁচাদের নিয়ে (যাদের কাছে ‘সহজ পাঠ’ নামটিও সম্পূর্ন অজানা) “সহজ পাঠ” এর কিছু নির্বাচিত অংশ দিয়ে তৈরী গীতিনাট্য ( Musical play)। জনিনা কতটুকু সফল হতে পেরেছি রবীন্দ্রনাথের এই ভাবনাকে ওদের কাছে পৌঁছে দিতে?!! তবু চেষ্ঠা করেছি। Rehearsal এর নানা অভিজ্ঞতায় বুঝেছি এই চিন্তা ভাবনার বেশ কয়েক যোজন দূরে রয়েছে আমাদের ছেলেমেয়েরা। কিন্তু এদের মগজে এই ভাবনার বীজ পুঁতে দেবার দায়িত্ব যে আমাদের ...বড়দের। আমরা কি তা করছি?? About ‘Sahaj Path – the musical play’ ------------------------------------------ According to Rabindranath Tagore, the aim of education is self-realization and the realization of universal soul in one's self. Tagore perceived nature as the best of all teachers. It is nature which will ingraft the spirit of learning in the mind of a student to pursue the education he/she likes and shape his/her behavior and character. He believed confining students only to text books does no good but perishes the natural instincts of students as well as their creative skills. As he once said, "Educational institution must not be a dead cage in which living minds are fed with food artificially prepared. It should be an open house, in which students and teachers are at one" Above all, Tagore attached great importance to including fine arts in the curriculum. To him, dance, music, drama, painting etc. should be integral part of educational process since these creative aspects of life are very essential to enrich one's soul. Our presentation is a tribute to Tagore’s philosophy of ‘sahaj path’ or ‘easy learning’ where children are not confined to classrooms and textbooks and childhood is not just a mundane rat race to the top. Select poems from the book ‘Sahaj Path’, Tagore’s text-book for elementary education and select Rabindra sangeet are entwined into an entertaining play format. Sahaj Path also gives our children most of whom are born and brought up in Mumbai the chance to learn and appreciate Tagore’s philosophy and his works.
