These little waltzes by Sor have a light, flowing character. They should not be too heavy or too aggressive. It is important to remember the waltz rhythm (carried by the second guitar part) places a bit more emphasis on the first beat while beats two and three are weaker. Really strive for that “boom-chuckchuck” sense of rhythmic pulse. Because there are so many repeats it will be important to utilize variety on the repeats not only in terms of color but also in articulation and dynamics. Use staccato, legato, and tenuto to add variety to your performance. Better yet, mix and match different tools to bring more variety to how you play the repeats. The dotted rhythmic figures along with grace notes in No. 4 will take some isolated work to keep those precise and snappy. This video is performed by Dave Belcher and Nicoletta Todesco and recorded at Yale University by Matthew LeFevre and Benjamin Schwartz.
