The DMEK tissue is prepared at the Lions VisionGift eyebank in Portland Oregon. The tissue is peeled, stained, S stamped for orientation, punched to size, and loaded into the injector. The preloaded tissue and injector combination are then placed into a viewing chamber for shipment. The tissue is inspected with a validated process following the preloading process. This ensures that there has been minimal endothelial damage to the graft. The Patient Ready DMEK™ process streamlines work in the OR and removes the expense of a punch and trypan blue. Most importantly the tissue is inspected for quality prior to leaving the eyebank. In this video Michael Straiko, MD is using the Patient Ready tissue in a surgery for Fuch's endothelial dystrophy.
