Five Awesome Uses for ChatGPT and Mixed Model Manufacturing

About The Webinar ChatGPT, the new AI tool from Open AI released a few months ago, is only one of the many AI systems that are taking the internet world by storm. More and more of the tools that we use every day are being enhanced with AI, including the Bing search engine, the Edge browser and Copilot for all of the Microsoft Office tools like Word, Excel and PowerPoint (to be released in the near future). So for those of us working in the realm of Lean and Continuous Improvement, a logical question might be "what's in it for us?". I've done some testing and exploring, and in this webinar I'll share five amazing areas of opportunity for CI professionals to expand their capabilities and their learning with the use of ChatGPT. I'll provide you with the scripts I used for each opportunity, what the results were like, and my evaluation of ChatGPT's capabilities for each. *Brainstorming Process Improvement Ideas Why not add another member to your Continuous Improvement team? This member has the advantage of having read every Lean book available, so you might get some fresh ideas! In this section I will post a process improvement challenge to ChatGPT, and we will see what creative solutions (if any) it comes up with! *Accelerating Lean Learning When trying to research a subject, the problem with Google is that of overkill. Google requires you to do the work of checking out the seemingly infinite list of links to find what you're looking for. ChatGPT, on the other hand, gives you the answer, and will also give you links if you ask for them.\ There are plenty of obscure Lean subject that you might want to learn more about. Remember that ChatGPT has "read" just about all of the Lean books available. *Generate Code to Analyze Data and Build Tools One of the most amazing capabilities of ChatGPT is that it can write code in virtually any programming language. This code doesn't always work, but it often does or requires minor tweaks. Sure, some programming familiarity will be needed to use this capability, but you're not starting from scratch. We'll explore some of the options...it's easier than you might think! I had ChatGPT write some Python code to analyze an Excel file. I'm not a programmer, but I know enough to be able to run it. *Supercharge Your Excel Workbooks with Macros Excel macros are great, but unless you work with them often, it's hard to get up the learning curve. Problem solved: just ask ChatGPT to write it for you, paste it into your Excel file, and run it. This is where I have spent some significant time with ChatGPT. Even if I have the skills to write an Excel macro myself, ChatGPT can do it in a fraction of the time. Test Your Knowledge with ChatGPT Quizzes If you want to test yourself on any subject, just ask ChatGPT to generate a quiz for you, and to explain the correct answer in detail after each question. This is another great way to learn. I'll create a short quiz that we can take online, all written by ChatGPT!
