I cleaned the machine for the first time. I can’t say it’s an easy task, but with some care and patience, it can be done. Following the company’s instructions, I tightened the hopper at the end until I felt resistance, going several notches past the zero point. According to the calibration instructions, I then turned it back to the zero point, which became my starting point (though, in my opinion, this is completely illogical). Next, I conducted a test. At setting 2, I ground 18 grams of coffee (which naturally resulted in a grind suitable for espresso). Then, I adjusted the grind two notches forward (to 2.2). Strangely, I found that the grind became shockingly coarse! I don’t know what happened, but as I began turning back to tighten it, I noticed I had to rotate almost a full turn, or maybe even more, before encountering resistance again (even though I had only moved forward by two notches). This new zero point ended up being a few notches ahead of the original zero (which, in my opinion, is normal), but I calibrated it at this point, and everything worked fine.
