June 12, 2018 https://baychi.org/calendar/20180612/ Make Your Design Team Pop with DesignOps Dave Malouf DesignOps is the new shiny thing for growing design organizations around the world. By intentionally designing your design operations, you will be able to bring more support, more clearance, and really hone the talent and value of your design team. Dave will give a brief explanation of what DesignOps entails, examples of who is doing it will, and why it matters to a design organization at any scale. Fixing Identity On the Way to Fixing Personal Data Control Mary Hodder What would it mean if end-user individuals were equal players with corporations and the government in controlling digital identity and privacy? What rating system for digital products and services could consumers use and trust? About seven years ago, the White House introduced The National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace (NSTIC), an initiative collaboratively bringing together the private sector, advocacy groups, public sector agencies and other organizations to improve the privacy, security and convenience of online transactions. The Identity Ecosystem envisioned in the NSTIC is an online environment where individuals and organizations are able to trust each other because they follow agreed-upon standards to obtain and authenticate their digital identities – and the digital identities of devices. To achieve this objective, the NSTIC established guiding principles for the creation of an Identity Ecosystem, developed with identity solutions that are: Privacy-enhancing and voluntary. Secure and resilient. Interoperable. Cost-effective and easy to use. This Identity Ecosystem is launching Phase II of its Identify Framework and Registry this month and has plans for future projects that address special identity and security issues related to health, children, and other domains. The current design challenge is how to show that products and the companies that make them have successfully incorporated the appropriate mechanisms to protect identity, enhance security, interoperability across systems, and are easy to use. A rating system is in the works.
