If you don't put some thought into it and plan out the best possible tile layout for your tile installation, be it a wall floor or whatever the tile surface may be, you could end up with tile slivers or undesirable cuts. Never just start in a corner and just start tiling, always take measurements, and dry lay some tile to use as a reference when planning your layout. In this video I try to explain how i planned the layout of these tub area to avoid small sliver cuts in the corner and where the field met the bullnose at the edge of the tub area shower. I also explain How I figured out what the tile cuts would be at the ceiling and the tub. I explain how to make and use a story pole to facilitate the layout of this subway tile tub surround.
