BREAKING NEWS | Federal judge temporarily blocks National Guard troop deployment to Portland, Oregon

After a federal judge issued a temporary court order halting the Trump Administration from deploying the National Guard to Portland until at least Friday, KATU heard from community members at the ICE facility that say they want that decision to become permanent. The federal government argues the deployment of the National Guard is necessary due to ongoing protests outside the ICE facility in South Portland. The administration has said the activity constitutes a “rebellion,” citing vandalism to the building and alleged threats to federal officers. However, federal Judge Karin J. Immergut said in the ruling Sunday that she disagrees with the President’s claims.
