A powerful exhibition of wāhine Māori sharing their stories is returning to Nelson, with four new women from around the South Island taking part. Read: https://bit.ly/3toKIKq | Subscribe: https://bit.ly/2JPg8oB French artist Loren Pasquier launched the exhibition, Wāhine, in Nelson in 2020 with multimedia portraits of four Whakatū Nelson wāhine Māori sharing their life and experiences, creating “an intimate moment between you and the portrait you are listening to”. At first, the installation was meant to be a one-off, but Pasquier was inspired by the audience response to “keep this kaupapa going”, and in 2021 fundraised to take the exhibition on tour around New Zealand and add new wāhine at each location. Now, the South Island tour is returning to where it began before crossing the strait to the North Island.
