In this video I’m flashing/tuning the ECU on my BMW E60 M5 through the OBD port. Because the engine is OFF while the ECU/computer is ON, reading/flashing can take a long time (30+ minutes), so stable power is critical — you don’t want to lose power mid-flash. I used a NOCO Genius charger/power supply in Supply Mode, and I also changed my laptop + USB power-saving settings so nothing goes to sleep during the process. While starting this, I found out my ECU was locked (the car was tuned already), so I first returned the car back to stock with help from ECUWorx (big thanks!): https://www.ecuworx.co.uk/ After that, I flashed my EVOLVE Automotive tune — go check them out here: @EvolveAutomotive What this tune changes (on my setup) Cat delete coding (stops catalyst monitoring/sensor checks after cat removal) Vmax / speed limiter removed (factory limit ~250 km/h) Warm-up delete (no high cold-start rev flare) 98 octane calibration Next step: I’m taking the car back to the dyno to compare before/after and see the real gains. 0:00 Why stable power is critical (ECU on, engine off) 00:34 Cable/USB setup + reading the stock file 00:58 ECU locked → car was tuned already 01:03 ECUWorx helps return ECU back to stock 01:56 What the car does during flashing (clicking/restarts) 02:43 Laptop/USB power-saving settings (don’t let anything sleep) 03:03 Tune file received 03:39 Flashing the tune (moment of truth) 04:22 What the tune changes (cat delete, Vmax, warm-up, 98 octane) 08:14 Flash complete 09:23 First start after the tune 11:01 Dyno plan + outro #BMW #E60M5 #M5 #V10 #S85 #ECUTuning #OBDFlash #EvolveAutomotive #Dyno #CarTuning
