✈️ Flying a BK117 helicopter across Australia is a journey few get to make — and this time, I had the privilege of sharing it with my wife, Sandy. We crossed some of the country’s most iconic landscapes: from Newman in the Pilbara, to Kalgoorlie, Forrest, Ceduna, Mildura, Griffith, Bathurst, and finally Sydney. One of the highlights was passing over Caiguna on the Eyre Highway, home to one of the longest straight stretches of road in the world. From the air, the highway looks like a perfect line drawn across the Nullarbor’s vast, flat scrubland. The countryside here is stark, raw, and breathtaking — endless saltbush plains, limestone outcrops, and shimmering horizons that remind you just how remote this part of Australia really is. Along the way, Sandy saw firsthand what it means to live and work “under the rotor disk”: the early starts, the fuel stops at outback roadhouses, the planning and discipline, and the incredible beauty of crossing a continent from above. This video is more than just a ferry flight log — it’s about sharing the aviation world with our partners, and showing how their support makes everything possible.
