Pilot critically injured in helicopter crash in Southern Utah

A helicopter pilot was injured after his aircraft crashed near Silver Reef in Southern Utah. According to officials with the Hurricane Valley Fire & Rescue, the helicopter crashed just after 1 p.m. on Monday. There were two people inside the aircraft. The pilot — identified by neighbors as 85-year-old Terry Bland — was transported by ambulance to the St. George Regional Medical Center. Officials said he was in "critical but stable condition." The second occupant declined further treatment after being evaluated at the scene. The cause of the crash has not yet been released.
