Extreme northern lights in Reykjavík, Iceland, january 10th 2026

I didn't plan for this, I brought my camera and tripod on my dog-walk for the purpose of photographing possible aurora activity, but suddenly the sky exploded and I managed to hit the record button on the camera before I was basically awe-struck and paralized in witnessing this. Unfortunately, my camera had previously been shooting video at 50 frames per second so I shot this in 50fps, which means double the required ISO, which means double the noise :( But as a bonus, we do get super detailed movements of the auroras. This is played back real time, 50 frames per second. Shot in 6K, 50fps, RAW, C-Log3 on Canon R3 and the Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS.
