His parents were Mr. Gerard Pierre and his wife Odette Dorante Pierre. He was the oldest of six children: Yves, Mireille, Marlène, Nicole, Marie Noelle, and Claude Pierre. A few years later, the entire family moved to Gonaives, Haiti where – at age of four, Yves went to school at “The Freres d’Instructions Chrétiennes”. Then to the Lycee of Guillaume Fabre Nicholas Geffrard of Gonaives. He returned to the capital (Port-au-Prince) where he finished his last 2 years of secondary school. Spiritually, Pastor Antoine Jean-Baptiste studied the Bible and the SDA church’s doctrine with Yves. Pasteur Fenelon Destin baptized him. Immediately after - through the Holy Spirit – he started preaching and was able to convince his entire family to embrace the Seventh - day Adventist Doctrine and all of them were baptized. As soon as he returned to Port-au-Prince, he ended up at Temple Adventiste # 1 on rue de la Réunion. His arrival was a blessing for the church’ youth. Yves joined the other very talented young leaders in their various activities which transformed the Church into a dynamic environment. Together they provided an ideal framework for the new generation to flourish helping with the Pathfinders, restructuring the library, publishing the newspaper Le Phare on a monthly basis, teaching summer courses for all those who wanted to either prepare for exams or the new school year, etc. After his baccalaureate, following a year of hiatus and under the influence of Pastor Jules Verne and Dr Edner Corbier, Yves Pierre went to the Seminary of Diquini (Currently known as UNA) to study Theology. In the meantime, he was already preaching, participating in many evangelistic events. After that he went to the “Petit Séminaire College Saint Martial” in Port-Au-Prince to study psychology. He also obtained a master’s degree in Theology from Andrews University Michigan. In the late 70’s, he fell head over heels in love with a charming and beautiful young lady by the name of Marie Léonne Cayard. And on September 12, 1978 they got married. From their union emerged two lovely children: Kareen Marie André Pierre and kareem Yves Pierre After graduating with a degree in Theology, he began preaching the gospel everywhere as if there were no tomorrow. He was sent to many places: including Arcahaie, Croix des Bouquets, Auditorium de La Bible of PortAu Prince etc, and held several administrative positions up to the Inter American Division as Itinerant Secretary and Evangelist for the Francophone field IAD. (For about 5 years, he was the evangelist of the Franco-Haitian field of the Inter-American Division, Personal Ministry Director of Southern Haiti Mission, Executive Secretary of Southern Haiti Mission, and Ministerial Director at the Union level.) Pastor Yves Pierre stood out above all for his kindness, his affability, his love for the souls, his spirit of service, and his eagerness to learn more and more to serve his God better. After leaving Haiti, he ministered first in Canada. Then, early in the 1990’s, he came to the United States where he served as the senior pastor of several churches, including Gethsemane, Péniel and many others. He was a gifted preacher converting and baptizing hundreds of souls through the Holy Spirit. Certainly, his career was not marked only by the sweet scent of lavender. He also endured some very difficult times. But overall, he was an indomitable evangelist who believed like Paul: "Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel". Despite various challenges, he continued to preach the Gospel. Nothing could stop him. If he couldn’t do it standing, he was willing to sit in a chair and do it. That was what he did on the evening of Tuesday July 27th . Unfortunately, after delivering the sermon, on Wednesday morning, July 28, 2021, he breathed his last breath. Pastor Yves Pierre was a valiant soldier for the Lord who died on the battlefield. What he wanted the most was to win as many people for the Lord as possible. Pastor Yves Pierre leaves behind to mourn his premature departure: his wife, born as Marie Léonne Cayard. Children: Kareen Marie André Pierre and kareem Yves Pierre.
