Today I build the Airfix 1/48th scale English Electric Lightning F2A/F6 kit as a tribute to my father, who passed away in 2019 and whose birthday would have been at the beginning of October. He loved the Lightning, and I use the CMK cockpit detail set to add to this already good kit for this project. I model this kit as XN793, the aircraft piloted by 92 squadron leader Air Commander John Mitchell at RAF Gutersloh in West Germany during 1971-73.
