CROSSWIND LANDING of a BOEING C-17 at Düsseldorf - C17 LANDING, DEPARTURE (4K)

This C-17 of the Usaf arrived at Düsseldorf during crosswinds from the south. Although most planes I have seen during crosswinds allign with the runway just seconds before touchdown this C-17 pilot already alligned with the runway two minutes before touchdown. He just banked to the left and did the rest with the tail rudder. I have never seen such an interesting crosswind landing before. Maybe the C-17 Globemaster has its own way to deal with crosswinds. The aircraft arrived from the USA and if I remember correctly it left empty. The crosswind landing also looked quite perfect although he touched down with the left main gear. During the past months we had several C-17` s at Düsseldorf because CanForce used our airport to refuel their planes. Usually they only land at Cologne but Cologne didn` t have enaugh space. There is a regulation about aircrafts with flares. There has to be a minimum seperation between the C-17 and other planes which would have caused three blocked parking positions at CGN and that` s not possible especially during the UPS night time rush.
