Join me as I explore the island of St Kilda, one of the most remote and hauntingly beautiful abandoned islands in Scotland. Located over 40 miles west of the Outer Hebrides and over 100 miles from the mainland, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is steeped in history, wildlife, and dramatic landscapes. Once home to a resilient island community, St Kilda now stands abandoned — a silent witness to centuries of human survival in one of Scotland’s harshest environments. Walk with me through the haunting stone ruins of the village of Hirta island , hear about the St Kildans' unique way of life, and see the wild beauty of the island’s dramatic cliffs and bird colonies. I’ll share some of the fascinating history which eventually led to the island’s evacuation in 1930 — a moment that marked the end of an era. St Kilda is Scotland’s only dual UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognised for its cultural and natural significance. I’m not an expert on St Kilda but before my trip, I read a lot of information about the island. However, there was too much information to include in just one video.
