It seems paradoxical, but knowledge from the TIBETAN BOOK OF THE DEAD aims to teach human beings to LIVE LIFE BETTER! New Acropolis re-presents a series of old lectures (sometimes of poor technical quality), republished with some improvements, which deserve to be revisited for their valuable content. This lecture was given by the professor and volunteer of New Acropolis, LÚCIA HELENA GALVÃO, in Brasília 2009 - streamed live. Based on the calendar of Celtic festivities, which obeyed the astronomical cycles, the speaker relates various symbolisms with the dates we celebrate to this day, and the countless symbolic elements - which we often use without knowing their deeper meanings. CURIOSITY: IT IS JUST A CONVENTION to use the dates of the solstices and equinoxes to mark the beginning of the seasons. Strictly speaking, these days we are right in the middle of a season. This happens because of the so-called THERMAL INERTIA. The hemispheres take some time to warm up as the incidence of light and heat from the Sun increases. They also take time to cool down, and the reason lies in the large amount of water on the Earth's surface. This substance has a large “heat capacity”, and it takes a certain amount of time to change its temperature. At the winter solstice, the oceans still retain much of the heat absorbed during the last summer. And in the middle of the summer solstice, the oceans are still absorbing heat and warming up.
