Dell PowerEdge MX750c Solid State Drives | SSD Upgrade & Options | How to Test with Dell Diagnostics

Dell PowerEdge MX750C - This video is focused on the Dell PowerEdge MX750c Blade Server. Today, we will be covering the different storage options for the MX750c, as well as support drive speeds and capacities. We will also show you how to install your drives as well as test them with Dell Diagnostics and HD Sentinel. If there is anything else you would like to see, then please drop a comment, and let us know. We want this video series to be a great tool for the Dell community. Ask questions. Answer questions. Help each other out. Lets get rolling. The Dell PowerEdge MX750C supports SAS, SATA and NVMe. Each one of them has its own benefits, so it will depend on your application. The SAS solid state drives are faster than SATA solid state drives, but SATA are more readily available and cost less money. NVMe are the most expensive but are also the fastest drive available. SATA drives can read/write at 6GB/s, whereas SAS can get all the way up to 12GB/s. NVMe remains the fastest though, at a whopping pace of 16GB/s! The Dell PowerEdge MX750C only takes 2.5” drives, or the adapter from M.2 NVMe to 2.5”. The max drive size for your Dell PowerEdge MX750C is 7.68TB with SAS, SATA, or NVMe. We recommend Solid State Drives over Hard Drives. SSDs are not only faster (better performance), but they are also more reliable. Especially within a compact form factor like this modern blade server, a hard drive would hinder this blade server’s potential performance. Hard Drives are less expensive per terabyte versus an SSD, which is the main reason the technology still exists today. We will also show you how to install a new drive into your Dell PowerEdge MX750C. This is super easy since these drives are hot swap, meaning you can install a drive while the server is running. We will also go over how to test your drives with Dell Diagnostics and HD Sentinel. Dell Diagnostics will test more than just the drives, but we will utilize this test to make sure our drives are performing well. Lastly, we use HD Sentinel to test our drives. It is great for checking the Health Scores and Power On Hours for drives. Please smash that subscribe button and learn more about Cloud Ninja’s server upgrades.
