Endoscopic Ear Wax Removal Leicester - The Hear Clinic

This is a great education video demonstrating the endoscopic ear wax removal technique viewed from both inside and outside the ear using the portable iCLEARscope video oto-endoscope. The client required an emergency home visit appointment to help remove her blocked ear wax and provide relief from her ear wax related symptoms. These included otalgia (earache), aural fullness (pressure inside ear), occlusion (sensation of sounds being trapped inside the head), and tinnitus (an internal ringing/buzzing type sound). A major benefit of endoscopic ear wax removal using the iCLEARscope is that the device is portable and light weight and therefore suitable for domiciliary visits. This is a major advantage over traditional Microsuction performed with a large, heavy and non-portable clinical ENT microscope. The client was sat comfortably with her head tilted slightly over towards her left ear. This helped to straighten her right ear canal to provide easy access for the ear wax to be removed. A firm safety bridge was then applied below the ear using my small finger on my left non-dominant hand which is holding the iCLEARscope, and also against the cheek with my right dominant hand which is holding the ENT micro-instruments used to extract the ear wax. This safety bridge is maintained throughout the procedure making it safe even if the client made any sudden and unwanted head movements. The client was suffering from hard dry wax which had embedded against the canal wall and lining of skin coating it. This type of ear wax is usually best removed using an ear hook but there was no immediate access for it to be inserted behind the lump of ear wax. Therefore suction was initially applied to carefully 'tease' the ear wax off the side of the ear canal in a circular motion. Once a the large lump of ear wax had been removed, an ear hook was used to gently pull and remove the remaining ear wax . It is important for your ear wax removal specialist to ensure the correct ENT microinstruments are being used, and in cases where required, they are being used in combination. Throughout the endoscopic ear wax removal procedure it can be seen that the client experienced no discomfort whatsoever and found the procedure to be very quick and comfortable.
