Serous cystadenoma is a benign ovarian tumor that arises from epithelial cells. It is one of the most common benign ovarian neoplasms, accounting for approximately 60% of ovarian serous tumors(1). Key Features Typically unilocular or multilocular cysts filled with clear watery fluid. Can grow large, sometimes exceeding 10 cm in diameter. Usually asymptomatic, but may cause pelvic discomfort or pressure symptoms if large(1). Pathology Microscopic appearance: Lined by a single layer of columnar epithelial cells, resembling fallopian tube mucosa. Psammomatous calcifications may be present in some cases(1). Diagnosis & Imaging Ultrasound: Appears as a thin-walled cystic lesion with no solid components. CT/MRI: Shows a homogeneous cystic mass with thin regular walls(1). Treatment & Prognosis Surgical removal (cystectomy or oophorectomy) is the standard treatment. Excellent prognosis, with no malignant potential(1). #cystadenoma
