If absolute power corrupts absolutely, then the same could be said for absolute oppression. When the authorities have crushed every moderate and peaceful form of dissent, only the hardliners and crazy people remain. There's a compelling story about losing your moral compass buried somewhere in Homefront: The Revolution, but judging by the reviews I've read it doesn't appear that the game really develops this dimension into anything meaningful over the course of its long campaign. That's a shame, because there's something fascinating about the suitably depressing post-invasion Philadelphia which Dambuster Studios has created and it's especially bleak when compared with the somber patriotism of something like Tom Clancy's The Division (not to mention the cheesy jingoism of Freedom Fighters). As an open world game, Homefront is very uneven and has several glaring design flaws, such as terrible AI and enemy outposts which are almost comically easy to take control of. That being said, there's an interesting difference in gameplay between city blocks in which you're running around shooting North Korean soldiers alongside resistance fighters and other more heavily fortified sectors where it's a much better idea to rely on stealth and sabotage.
