Chorus angelorum te suscipiat, et cum Lazaro quondam paupere aeternam habeas requiem. (God’s holy angels lead you to paradise: may saints in their glory receive you at your journey’s end, guiding your footsteps into the Holy City Jerusalem. Choirs of angels sing you to your rest: and with Lazarus raised to eternal life, may you for evermore rest in peace.) (Translation by John Rutter ' 1984 Hinshaw Music, Inc.) Fauré Requiem and other sacred music John Rutter’s Gramophone Award-winning 1984 recording of Fauré’s Requiem, re-released in 2010 at mid-price. The first-ever performance on disc of the work in its intimate original version – famously re-discovered by Rutter in the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris after a century of neglect – it remains one of the timeless jewels in the crown of the Collegium catalogue. John Rutter, English composer and conductor, is associated with choral music throughout the world. His recordings with the Cambridge Singers (the professional chamber choir he set up in 1983) have reached a wide global audience, many of them featuring his own music in definitive versions. Among John’s best-known choral works are Gloria, Requiem, Magnificat, Mass of the Children, and Visions, together with many church anthems, choral songs and Christmas carols.
