One such luminary statesman was none other than one of India’s favourite sons in Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar- the Father of the Indian Constitution. One of Dr. Ambedkar’s lasting legacies in his illustrious career was his revolutionary interpretation of Buddhism’s Classical Texts. This helped spark a whole new school of thought within Buddhism called Navayana- a liberation theology hinging on Class Struggle & Social Reform by way of overthrowing oppressive forces in the socio-economic sphere within a polity. However, Navayana’s place among the Ancient Buddhist canons across Asia has often been contested by practitioners and experts alike.
