Through the city of Skellefteå flows the river Skellefteälven, an oasis of wild nature in the roaring city. During the winter, it is covered with ice and makes not much sound, but when spring comes in March-April, the ice melts and the river comes to life. All the animals that are drawn to the water crawl up, the seabirds return and the river simmers with a cacophony of natural sounds that competes with the city noise.
