Tuesday 16th November 2021. The Churchill Hospital is a centre of excellence for cancer services and other specialties, including renal services and transplant, clinical and medical oncology, dermatology, haemophilia, chest medicine and palliative care. The hospital, together with the nearby John Radcliffe Hospital, is a major centre for healthcare research, housing departments of Oxford University Medical School and Oxford Brookes University's School of Healthcare Studies. It incorporates the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism (OCDEM) - a collaboration between the University of Oxford, the NHS and three partner companies - which is a world-class centre for clinical research on diabetes, endocrine and metabolic disorders, along with clinical treatment and education. https://www.ouh.nhs.uk/hospitals/chur... The Lye Valley SSSI, Headington, Oxford, is an 8,000 year-old internationally rare habitat, a tufa-forming valley-head alkaline spring fen. It represents 1.5 ha of only 19 ha of this habitat left in all England and supports over 20 species of plant rare in Oxfordshire of which 14 are on the England Red List. It also hosts ten species of rare and 27 species of nationally scarce invertebrates, notably soldier flies and glow worms, as well as thriving populations of reptiles and amphibians. http://www.friendsoflyevalley.org.uk/... With origins of golf first played on the original Cowley Marsh site as far back as 1873, it’s safe to say that Oxford Golf Club is part of the fabric of the city. One of the oldest golf clubs in England and most certainly the oldest in Oxfordshire. With sprinklings of design by the highly acclaimed architect and champion golfer James Braid the course was laid out with holes dotted around the University cricket ground, and up the hill, just touching upon what is now the far end of the course. Golf was played here for a number of years, but was deemed unsatisfactory and the University tried a few other locations around Oxfordshire during this time. But, in 1922 the University acquired Southfield Farm and commissioned the services of the legendary Henry Shapland Colt (Harry Colt) to re-design the course, which is very much as it is today. https://www.oxfordgolfclub.net/ https://goo.gl/maps/dj1f3au4AWvvDdBG9 Changes location at 2:22, another open space field.
