Myrmecochory is a fancy word for a special relationship between plants and ants. Some plants produce seeds that have tasty little bits called elaiosomes attached to them. These elaiosomes are like snacks for ants. When ants find these seeds, they carry them back to their nests to eat the elaiosomes. After the ants have eaten the tasty parts, they leave the seeds in their nest or nearby. This helps the seeds get planted in a safe place where they can grow into new plants. So, the ants get a snack, and the plants get help spreading their seeds to new places. It's a win-win situation!
