When most folks think of Oregon they think of Portland, the Pacific Ocean along the Oregon Coast, the lush agrarian Willamette Valley at the western end of the historic Oregon Trail, or the tall forested volcanoes of the Cascades. But there's an entire other half to Oregon, the eastern half dominated by the Harney Basin, one of the least populated areas of the contiguous United States. It's an arid, seemingly featureless desert, but as you'll see in this episode it's hardly featureless at all.
