The Big Bang Theory is the history of our universe. The most important idea of the Big Bang Theory is that the universe we see today was much smaller, hotter and denser in the past. The Big Bang Theory only tells the history of how the universe got from that state to the state we see today. Scientists have put forward some hypotheses that explain what happened before the Big Bang. But those are not part of the Big Bang Theory.
