If you've been wondering where to get vegan food in Auckland, New Zealand look no further. Veganism is the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products (i.e. meat, milk, eggs.. stuff that comes from an animal), especially in one's diet, but it's also an associated philosophy that rejects the commodity status of animals. Someone who is a follower of the diet or the philosophy is known as a vegan. The way vegan is different to a vegetarian is that vegetarians pretty much just don't eat meat, so think of vegans as that one step further. We hadn't tried much vegan food before so were interested to know what can vegans eat, how good does it taste and what does it even mean to live a vegan lifestyle? So, we caught up with our friend Bex and spent a day visiting four of the best vegan/vegetarian spots around Auckland, New Zealand. Bex who also teaches Peter a couple Yoga moves too along the way. If you're a herbivore or curious about vegan food, this episode is definitely for you. We sure were pleasantly surprised too by how good the food tasted and how light but satisfied you feel after eating it. This was an amazing way to start our journey I am always a sucker for smoothie bowls! The kimchi pancakes were amazing as well. Address: Summer Street & Ponsonby Road, Ponsonby, Auckland Hours: Monday - Sunday - 7AM–4PM Destination 2: Tart Bakery, you might confuse this place for a regular bakery. But when you get inside it is anything but regular. Vegan sausage rolls and pies and the most amazing sour bread loaf you will find in Auckland. Great lil vegan bakery. Address: 183 Karangahape Rd, Auckland, 1010 Hours: Saturday - Sunday - 9am - 4pm Monday - Friday - 9am - 5pm Destination 3: The Butcher's Son, trendy vegetarian and vegan spot in the middle of Herne Bay. Conveniently opens late and houses a great atmosphere. Address: 204 Jervois Road, Herne Bay, Auckland Hours: Sunday – Wednesday 8am – 4pm Thursday – Saturday 8am – Until Late Destination 4: Water Drop, located in Fo Guang Shang Buddhist temple in Flatbush. Interesting experience trying some faux meats.
