They longed for Israel’s freedom but misunderstood God’s kingdom as something to be attained by political revolution. One of Jesus’ own disciples, Simon the Zealot (Luke 6:15), reminds us that Christ calls even the most passionate revolutionaries into a new kind of kingdom—one built not on swords but on the cross. The Zealots show how human attempts to bring God’s kingdom by earthly force distort His redemptive plan. God’s kingdom advances not by human zeal or violence, but by the sovereign power of the Spirit through the gospel. 📖 Bible Readings: Luke 6:15 (John 18:36; Acts 1:13; Matthew 10:4; Mark 3:18; Luke 6:15; Acts 1:6–8; Romans 14:17) 👨🏻💻 Teachings: 1. Zealots are willing to die for politics and religion. 2. Zealots oppose foreign kings and pagan Rome. 3. Zealots are passionate for King-Yahweh. 💪🏼 Applications: 1. Ask yourself, “What is worth dying for?” 2. Ask yourself, “What evil do you oppose?” 3. Ask yourself, “What are you passionate about?” 🎙Discussion: What are you willing to die for? Alternative questions: 1. What have you learned from this devotion? 2. How can you practically apply our devotion? 🙏🏼 Prayer: Father God, thank You for showing me, through the Zealots, how powerful zeal can be. Yet I confess that my passion is often misdirected toward lesser things of this world. Teach me what is truly worth dying for, and give me courage to stand against evil, not with hatred or violence, but with holiness, truth, and love. Set my heart on fire for You as my true King-Yahweh. Make me passionately loyal to Christ, ready to live and, if needed, to die for Your kingdom and Your glory alone. I ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
