People shopping STORYLINE: Shoppers in Cairo's toy stores have been snapping up a veiled Muslim doll as an alternative to western-styled Barbie. The Fulla doll is dressed in an Islamic headscarf and Muslim overcoat and carries a pink felt prayer rug. She has quickly become a best seller in the Middle East since she was launched in 2003. Shopkeeper Aly Abou El Dahab said lots of people liked to buy Fulla rather than Barbie because of her traditional muslim values. One mother, Malak Gaffar said her young daughter liked the Fulla doll that was dressed in a white veil and dress. Gaffar said her daughter did like Barbie as well, but thought it was a good sign she liked a doll that wore the same clothes she sees women wearing everyday. Fulla's creators NewBoy Design Studio said Fulla is single, and has no plans to marry.
