Day 4 on Mount Elbrus was all about building endurance, gaining altitude, and immersing ourselves in the beauty and culture of the Caucasus Mountains. This was our second acclimatization hike, taking us from forest trails into alpine terrain, reaching up to 3,500 meters, with breathtaking views of both Elbrus summits along the way. We started the day just steps from our hotel, stopped by a local grocery store to try feijoa (pineapple guava), and experienced the warm hospitality of the local people in Terskol. Before hitting the trail, our guide led us through stretching exercises—an important but often overlooked part of high-altitude preparation. The hike led us through enchanted forest landscapes before opening into wide alpine views. One of the highlights of the day was reaching Maiden’s Braids Waterfall, a hidden alpine gem at around 2,800 meters. The crystal-clear glacier meltwater flows directly from Mount Terskol, and on a hot summer day, it’s incredibly refreshing. Along the trail, we met hikers from all over the world—and even had an emotional reunion with a Japanese climber who summited Mount Aconcagua on the same day as us in January 2025. Moments like this remind us how small the world feels in the mountains. We also learned about the region’s history, culture, and dramatic weather contrasts—45°C in the valley while enjoying cool, breezy air near the weather observatory tower. This is more than just training for the summit—it’s part of the Elbrus experience. 📍 Route Highlights Second acclimatization hike on Mt.
