Every now and then someone will ask me what my “method” is. It is not the most common question, but it is definitely the hardest one to answer because it requires context. Since I am not a sleep trainer and do not use or recommend the generally accepted behavioural techniques that people expect, it can be tricky to explain that my work comprises of countless small tweaks that add up to calmer days and more restful sleep. In this video I explain: • Why no single program or formula can do justice to the individuality of babies • How beliefs, expectations and a child’s unique biology shape sleep • Why I start by understanding parents’ priorities and values • The role of temperament, development, feeding, health and family dynamics • How positive changes emerge once parents understand their child’s unique sleep needs • How parents learn to invite independence rather than forcing it through separation based methods • How a child's confidence can grow without fear or anxiety through repetition, warmth, closeness and play My approach draws on attachment focused, developmentally informed principles that adapt to each family and each child. There is no magic trick, no single technique and no coined name for what I do. It is simply kind and respectful parenting and sleep is just one part of that.
