African Voices: British Somalilanders mark 28 years of Somaliland self-declared independence. P1

In 2014, the Sheffield Council voted in support of independence for Somaliland. British-Somalilanders Councillor Kaltum Rivers and Adam Ahmed Yusuf commemorate 28 years of Somaliland self-declared independence and discuss their hopes for Somaliland's international recognition. Kaltum was the first African woman elected to political office in South Yorkshire while Adam serves as the Chair of the Somaliland Recognition Committee in the UK. The Festival of Debate will host Councillor Kaltum Rivers and a representative of the Somaliland Mission in the UK on 1st June to discuss how Somaliland is functioning effectively as a state and how its future might look.
