They instantly feel drawn to each other. They fall in love, one day Caroline suspects she's pregnant. She takes a test and it's positive. But she's in denial, she doesn't accept that fact. She's worried, because she doesn't want to bring a child into this world. It's a cause of all of the fights between Rick & Caroline. Without talking to Rick, Caroline decides to take abortion pills. But she throws them up right away, because she realizes what she did was terrible. She confronts Rick about it, she's sorry for what she's done. She finally accepts the pregnancy. She's speaking with her best friend - Lydia. She's worried that she will not survive the childbirth, therefore she asks her for a favour. She wants Lydia to raise her child with Rick if she doesn't make it. The horde of zombies break down the walls of Alexandria. Caroline starts to give birth at the same time. She's cut off from her doctor when the zombies surround the place. While making C-section, she loses a lot of blood. She dies during the childbirth. Rick cannot handle his loss. 2 years later Lydia watches over Judith - Caroline's daughter, while thinking of her best friend.
