Dave Stewart (born 9 September 1952, Sunderland, UK) is a Grammy-winning musician, songwriter, and producer best known as half of the iconic duo Eurythmics with Annie Lennox. Together they created some of the most defining pop hits of the 1980s, including “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” (No.1 US, Top 10 worldwide), “Here Comes the Rain Again” (Top 10 US/UK), and “Would I Lie to You?”. Their mix of synth-pop and rock made them global superstars. Beyond Eurythmics, Stewart built a solo career. As a solo artist, Stewart found success with “Lily Was Here” (1989), an instrumental duet with Dutch saxophonist Candy Dulfer. The track spent five weeks at No.1 in the Netherlands and became a global hit: UK #6, US Billboard Hot 100 #11, Belgium #2, Norway #2, Sweden #10, Australia #10, and Top 20 across much of Europe. In 1981, Stewart recorded “What Becomes of the Broken Hearted” with Colin Blunstone. Originally a 1966 hit for Jimmy Ruffin, their cover reached #13 on the UK Singles Chart and stayed 10 weeks in the UK Top 75. This performance was recorded by the TROS TV program Starclub on April 27, 1981. Watch our great music videos ❯ https://goo.gl/feVLNN More TopPop?
