Over and over again in the first 18 verses of Matthew 6, Jesus talks about how God rewards His followers. We've talked about how as we give, pray and fast in secret, God will reward us for all to see. But Jesus knows how we are wired in our fallen nature: we tend to translate these promises into material prosperity. So what does He do? Jesus confronts this notion head on.
