Granuloma in the brain that can be MRI or CT scan detected with MRI or CT scan especially they present with seizures, that is one sided seizures and also they can have headache and weakness of one side of the body and also sometimes vomiting. So these can be picked up with imaging, that is MRI or CT scan of the brain. So based on the MRI or CT scan and other evaluation of the patient, you will get to know if it is tuberculoma, that is Tb of the brain swelling or due to neurocysticercosis or worm cyst or worm, egg in the brain. so these are the possibilities. Based on these criteria, we evaluate whether it is neurocysticercosis or tuberculoma of the brain. If it is tubercular of the brain, we have to evaluate properly any evidence of tuberculosis in the body and that indicates a serious condition and we need to take for atleast 1 year, medicines for Tb, then usually they will cure, in case of neurocysticercosis, that is worm’s egg in the brain. It can be due to many reasons, due to bad environmental hygiene, without washing their hands, they have chance of contamination to the brain and it can cause fits and weakness and vomiting also and this can be cured with adequate medications. Usually we give medication for worm eggs and usually it will be cured most of the times. Sometimes it can leave a scar on the brain also, where they can get convulsions or fits. So you need to treat convulsions or fits for 2-3 years of time.
