A First Look at Elemental Reforged: Peak Fantasy 4X in the Classic Style

Elemental Reforged is a re-imaging of the original three games in the Elemental series: War of Magic, Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes and Sorcerer King. This is a classic fantasy 4X game with an equal balance between empire management, role playing game elements and tactical combat. It is distinguished from other fantasy 4X games by this careful balance, but also boasts unparalleled customisation and sandbox gameplay. Despite it being heavy on the sandbox side of things, the game is tight enough, with good AI, that you will need to learn and master all those tools to win, especially on higher difficulties. Disclosure: I work for Stardock, the developer of this game and so you must take that into account when analysing my critique. I won't say anything I know to be untrue but there is a conflict of interest here as we want the game to do well.
