This video is not really a how to, but might give enough information to get a DIY'er into trouble. The home that we repaired had vertical, diagonal and horizontal foundation cracks caused by poor grading and saturated soil freezing and shows one of many processes that we use to stablize the failed concrete wall and support the structure above. I hope this gives insight into the process and helps people understand a small amout of what is needed. If you are calling your insurance company for water damage and have restoration done to remediate the problem. Know that many companies do not cover water infiltration from a cracked foundation or water damage caused by heavy rain and flood damage. Flooded basements are more common that you would expect and solving the flooding problem is typically up to the home owner. Find a contractor with knowledge of your area and the circumstances you are living with. Understand that this repair is in a northern climate and may not apply to your southern climate. The process of waterproofing is not geographically determined. Keeping water out is simply applying common sense with avalilable products. There is a universal law call "Cause and Effect".... fixing the effect does little in rectifing the problem when the cause is left and not repaired it does its best to create more failures and produce more effects. Grading is a major cause but throwing topsoil on top of clay does little to fixing the cause because water will percolate through the topsoil to the subsoil that will likely be clay base and flow the negative back to the house and put stress on the foundation and drainage system that is in place. If you do have a problem and need a sounding board.... please subscribe and comment... if there is enough interest we will put together a video that may resolve you problem.
