WAITING AT WISDOM'S DOOR Wisdom! Oh boy, do we need more of that? We look around and see the condition of our society and the world we live in and wonder where common sense went. Common sense is another name for wisdom. However, Paul admonishes us to rely on something other than the wisdom of this world. There is a higher wisdom we need. The apostle Paul tells us that the mystery of Christ dwelling in us had been hidden for all the ages until now. The book of John 1:1 tells us that the Word (Christ) was in the beginning before all time, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God himself. Because Christ, the Messiah, was not to be revealed until he came in the flesh, the appearance of Christ in the Old Testament has many descriptions. In Proverbs, in the eighth chapter, Christ is described as wisdom. Solomon goes on to tell us by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit that wisdom was with God before the world was formed. And also, it was by wisdom that the world was created. First Corinthians 1:24 tells us that Christ is the wisdom of God. And in First Corinthians 1:30, the apostle Paul tells us that God has made Christ unto us, wisdom. So, when the subject of wisdom comes into our conversation, we are focused on something other than the education of this world that produces worldly wisdom. We are focused on the deposit of heaven into us, which is godly wisdom. Proverbs 8:34 (m/b) tells us that "if you would wait at wisdom's door, longing to hear a word for every day, joy will break forth within you as you listen for what I'll say." This sounds like the same command that we received in the New Testament. "seek ye first, the kingdom of God, and all of these things will be added onto you." The kingdom of God is not a thing it is a person. The kingdom of God has a king, who is Christ Jesus. When we seek hard after God, we are standing at wisdom's door, according to Proverbs eight.
