On 30 August 2025, Architecture Playbook conducted Design Code Collab — not just an event, but a challenge. We brought together Architecture students and Computer Science students with one clear goal: Can we co-create a digital tool that truly solves problems in the Architecture & Construction industry? Because the truth is — The gap between drawings and what actually gets built on site is still one of the biggest challenges in our profession. What This Challenge Addressed: The Communication Problem Architects design with intent. Contractors execute with constraints. Somewhere in between — clarity gets lost. This session explores why miscommunication continues to affect projects. Project Management in AEC Are existing tools built for architects? Or are we adapting generic software for a highly specialized process? We discussed what a truly architecture-focused project management system should look like. The Digital Twin Idea The challenge focused on creating a tool that helps generate a digital twin of what is actually constructed on site — not just what was drawn. A live reflection of execution. A bridge between intent and reality with tools like AI, simulators, modelling, design etc. Co-Creation Across Disciplines Architecture students brought domain knowledge. Computer Science students brought system thinking. Together, they attempted to design a tool that could add real value to the industry.
