I will compare the structure of five 6-hon-choshi shinoube flutes and show why no two shinobue flutes sound alike. Each shinobue has a unique tonal quality, just like no human being looks the same (unless you are an identical twin). Five shinobue flutes compared: Marumiya, Maruyama, Hidekatsu, and Shoji (x2). But these five shinobue do match up in terms of pitches because shinobue artisans made sure that they are well tuned, especially the do re mi cho shinobues (all are do re mi cho except for Maruyama).
